Seatback Priming Prep

Back from a great trip in Greece (and overcoming a bout of Covid in the family), it was time to get going on the interior of the fuselage. The plans start with the seat backs and then the fuselage flooring. Since there will be some priming to do, I’m planning on getting through a few sections up to prime prep, then doing a batch prime session. Starting with the front seat back, it was a relatively quick prep with the only complication being the fabrication of the hinge. It required drilling locating holes as per plans and then match drilling the rest of the holes.

Next up was the rear seat back. The structure for this assembly was a little more complicated requiring both a hinge fabrication and bending metal to fit. The plans call for using a hand seamer for the bend but mine weren’t big enough. Outside of that it was a similar assembly, final drill, disassemble, deburr process as the front seat.

With the seat back parts ready for prime, I decided to continue forward with seat flooring prep. I may regret the decision during priming day, but for now, I’m having too much fun with the build and fitment so I’ll continue that direction. Next up will be seat flooring install and fitment. Until then… Happy building!
