As I near start of final assembly of the fuel tank, there are a lot of miscellaneous tasks I will need to tackle. Today I match drilled the fuel drain flange (VA-112) to the tank skin, finished out the build table with an additional back rivet plate, and started getting the DRDT-2 dimpler more rigidly mounted to the table. As soon as I got in the groove, it was time to head out for a day of tailgating and football watching with the boys. Below are some photos of the day.
Fuel Drain Flange positioned over the pre-drilled drain hole
Cleocoing as I drill
And marking to make sure I can orient the same on final attachment
need a back rivet plate oriented for horizontal back riveting (such as stiffeners)
out comes the router
benchtop fully prepped for the plate
it fits!
Drilling to mount the DRDT-2 Dimpler
bolts installed
Workshop bench ready to go.

Lots of detail work but I’m sure that seeing the end of this step is giving you lots of satisfaction
