An RV-8 Build Log
Over a couple of days, the boys and I have gotten through most of the prep for the Tank Port Access parts and final prep has started!
The boys joined me for a short session where we started prepping the access ports on the inboard wing rib.
Continuing with the unexpected build time, I made some good progress fabricating the fuel tank attach angles. Read on for all the nitty gritty detail.
With temperatures dropping, and fuel tank sealing on the horizon, I need to find a way to heat up an area for sealant application. See what I came up with in this post. And what is Kaizen Foam you ask? You got it! Also in this post.
It is time to disassemble the fuel tank and start the prep process. Sam came down and we enjoyed an evening of Football, Sushi, and a bit of building.
After a nice sports weekend off, I return to the fuel tank to countersink and final size drill a bunch of holes. Read on for the details.
What I thought was going to be a quick session turned long as underestimated the work to fit the tank skin on the ribs. Read on to find out more.
Tonight I spent a couple hours disassembling a lot of the fittings and getting the tie-downs installed. In this post I’ll show you how to drill out the tie-down holes, and more importantly…how NOT too…:).
A sneak away quick session to mount the tank stiffeners and fit the tank skins.
I had a good evening of fabrication with an old colleage and friend. Oh, and I found something I didn’t even know was missing. Read on for more info.
