Van’s light box kit #1
Got started with the light box practice kit in earnest this evening. There is a nice variety of tasks in this project. From nut plates to countersinking, it looks like I’m going to try a bunch of different skills.
An RV-8 Build Log
Got started with the light box practice kit in earnest this evening. There is a nice variety of tasks in this project. From nut plates to countersinking, it looks like I’m going to try a bunch of different skills.
How do you log your hours? In this post I describe some of the nuances to build hours logging, and how I’ve decided to go about it.
who loves counting AN3-6 screws? this guy! Jack and I spent the morning wrapping up the inventory check. Overall I would say it was a successful pack job by Vans, and although there are a few minor corrections, there are no show stoppers to getting going this week!
The day had finally arrived, and the anticipation of the arrival did not disappointment. It was a nice day of spending time with friends, unpacking the biggest Christmas present ever, and making some progress on the inventory work.
Less than 24 hours until the wing kit arrives. It’s time to do final clean up and prep for a whole bunch of parts to organize!
The parts finally came in to finish the air system. And the final countdown to wing kit arriving has begun. I’ve got a delivery date!
Now that I have a back rivet plate on one of my workbenches, I got back to the phone holder practice kit.
It was finally time to build the first of the practice kits…or was it? Looks like there was more to do before getting to the kit!
With the days to delivery ticking down, I tackled a few outstanding punchlist items, and then made some serious progress on the air system.
Continuing progress on the air system, today we started mounting sub-assemblies and air piping to the walls. Jess helped with a little caulking activity as well!
