An RV-8 Build Log
Finished the Countersinking work on the main spars tonight. Nico helped out, and also put some time in on his toolbox. Fun session!
It was another session of countersinking for the tank skins and wrapping up some riveting that needed some special tooling. Getting close to finishing this step!
Today we started countersinking for the tank skin. I had a hard time figuring out if the countersink was deep enough to accomodate the tank dimple. Check out the post and see what you think.
Got through the remainder of the nut plate riveting today on the left main spar. Thoroughly enjoyed the focused session with no major hiccups.
Got an hour in before heading to the 49ers home opener. Almost done with the right main spar, but learned a valuable lesson today.
And so it begins. The first holes have been reamed, countersunk and deburred. And the first rivets has been squeezed. Check out this post where we start working on the wing kit in earnest!

I got an hour in trying to finish up the light box. Made some good progress and got to work with universal heads for the first time. Not pretty, but definitely fun!
lots of mistakes tonight, which will help me avoid them in the real build.
Tonight we started the Van’s toolbox practice kits. Nico, Giacomo, and Isaac were all part of the fun. I also did a bit of rearranging after installing some wall mount hangars.
